About This Case

NOTICE OF CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT

A court has authorized this notice. This is not a solicitation from a lawyer.

If you purchased one or more Buck Knives, Inc. knife-sheath combinations for personal use between March 1, 2018, to February 17, 2022, you could get benefits from a class-action settlement.

What is this Notice for? This Notice is being made to inform you that a settlement has been reached in the lawsuit Houriani v. Buck Knives, Inc., Case Number 2:21-cv-01908-DSF-SK, which is pending in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. This class settlement has been preliminarily approved by the Court under Rule 23 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Who is included? Settlement Class Members include all persons who purchased Buck Knives, Inc. knife-sheath combinations for personal use between March 1, 2018, to February 17, 2022. Excluded from the Settlement Class are all those persons who submit timely and valid requests for exclusion from the Settlement Class.

What are my options? You can file a claim to receive Settlement benefits, do nothing and stay in the case as part of the class, exclude yourself, or object to the Settlement. If you do not exclude yourself and the Court approves the Settlement, you will be bound by the Court’s orders and judgments, even if you do not file a claim. If the Settlement is approved by the Court, any legal action you may have against the Defendant related to the allegations in the Lawsuit will be released.

What can I get? Under the proposed Settlement, Class Members who submit a valid claim by June 1, 2022, will receive up to $10.00 per qualifying Buck Knives knife-sheath combination purchased for personal use, up to a maximum of three (3) knives per person and six (6) knives per household.

What happens next? The Court will hold a Final Approval Hearing at 1:30 p.m. on August 8, 2022, to decide whether the Settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate. The Court will also decide whether to approve Class Counsel’s attorneys’ fees and expenses (up to $100,000) and whether to award up to $7,500 to the Representative Plaintiff. You or your attorney may seek permission to speak at the hearing at your own cost.

How do I get more information? If you wish to file a claim, object to the Settlement, or exclude yourself from the Settlement, you must follow the procedures outlined on the Notice of Class Action Settlement. You may also call toll-free 1-888-251-1607 with questions.
